1. Wings & Wheels

Get ready for a day of family fun at the Kelowna Flying Club’s Wings and Wheels event! Join us at the T-Hangars Saturday, August 24th from 11 am to 3 pm at the Kelowna International Airport, for an unforgettable experience with unique cars and aircraft on display. The event will feature many aircraft and classic cars on display. There will also be food vendors and exhibitors! Admission is free but cash donations are gratefully accepted for the YLW scholarship fund supporting aerospace students in the Okanagan. With your donation, you are entered into a draw for a free discovery flight from the club’s Flying Program. Also, a must-see is the KF Centre for Excellence on the other side of Airport Way. The winning ticket for the discovery flight will be listed here on our home page, after the event. See you August 24th at the Kelowna Flying Club Wings and Wheels event – where the rubber meets the runway.

The Apple Race Series brings back two of Kelowna’s high-profile sporting events – Apple Triathlon & Apple Marathon.

The Apple Triathlon is a staple Kelowna event and historic triathlon in Canada. For over 40 years, thousands of residents and visitors have participated in this nationally recognized event featuring a spectator-friendly course based in the heart of downtown Kelowna.

This year’s event will offer a Kids Race, Super Sprint Race and a Sprint Race.

3. The Legendary Lake Monsters

The Legendary Lake Monsters are a dynamic and entertaining horn-driven 11-piece Party / Dance band. Featuring 6 driving horns, 2 tasty vocalists, and a super tight rhythm section.

They play both original and cover horn-driven dance music, from R&B, Soul to Salsa to Swing, with a healthy dose of Pop and Rock from the 60s to the very present. The band is well known locally for packing the dance floors and providing infectious rhythms.

 

4. 76th Annual Penticton Peach Fest

The Penticton Peach Festival started in 1947, with the Knights of Pythias and the Penticton Rotary Club participating. Neil McKerracher was the first chairman. The date was set for mid-August of each year when peaches would be ripe. Outstanding personalities were invited and a queen and princesses selected. Events included a rodeo, an industrial show, a parade, and a crowning ceremony.

It is time to start planning to take part in the Interior Savings Across the Lake Swim on July 20th, 2024! 2024 will mark the 76th edition of an event that has always offered a challenge and a standard for young and old, newly minted swimmers and seasoned racers.

Since its beginning in 1949, the Interior Savings Across the Lake Swim in Kelowna, BC has always been more a demonstration of swimming ability than a race. Each summer, swimmers of all ages and abilities challenge themselves to swim 2.1 kilometers across Okanagan Lake, to test what they have learned and to master the distance.

3. 16th Annual Okanagan Rock & Gem Show

The 16th Annual Okanagan Rock & Gem Show is happening this July! Hosted by your local 1120 Rock Club and the Vernon Lapidary & Mineral Club, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
The show will be at Rutland Centennial Hall (215 Shepherd Road) and will go from July 12th to July 14th.

Hours are as follows:
Friday July 12 – 12:00pm to 8:00pm
Saturday July 13 – 9:00am to 5:00pm
Sunday July 14 – 10:00am to 4:00pm

We will have all types of vendors selling amazing rocks, crystals, minerals, fossils, jewelry, and more! There will be multiple silent auctions every day, the famous Spin & Win, the showcase competition, and other activities for kids. Fun for the whole family! There will also be a food truck on site both Saturday and Sunday, Samosa Joe’s! Admission will be by donation. All proceeds will go directly to the rock clubs. The local rock clubs are not-for-profit organizations that provide rockhounding and lapidary activities for members. These events are extremely helpful in supporting the clubs.

Join us for the 17th Annual YMCA Cycle for Strong Kids event, presented by The Payton and Dillon Memorial Fund, on June 2nd at our NEW location: Stuart Park in Downtown Kelowna! This year’s event promises more community involvement than ever before, with exciting additions like new Jr. kids bikes, a Kids’ Zone, a bouncy castle, children’s activities, a photo booth, and much more.

70 YMCA stationary bikes and 4 new Jr. kids stationary bikes will be set up under a tent at downtown Stuart Park. On June 2nd from 10 am to 2 pm, we’ll run four 45-minute spin sessions led by YMCA cycle instructors. Participants can register and reserve their bikes for a $50 fee, with a fundraising goal of at least $250 each. Our ultimate aim is to provide over 1,300 local vulnerable children and youth with free or subsidized membership and access to our Child and Youth Development programs.
